Max 10MB • Max 500 pages

How It Works

Splitting a PDF with LocalPDFs is simple and completely private. Start by dragging and dropping your PDF file into the upload area, or click to select it from your device. The tool accepts files up to 10 MB and a maximum of 500 pages.

Once the file is loaded, choose your splitting method: custom page ranges (e.g., “1-3, 5, 7-9”), split into groups of a fixed number of pages, or extract specific individual pages. After selecting the method, click the “Split PDF” button – the tool processes everything locally inside your browser, without sending any data to a server.

When the split is complete, you can download each resulting PDF file individually. All processing happens on your device, so your documents never leave your computer. No uploads, no servers, no waiting – and your sensitive information stays private.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to split PDFs online with LocalPDFs?

Yes – your file never leaves your browser. All splitting happens locally on your device. No upload, no server, no privacy risk.

What is the maximum file size or number of pages?

Currently we support up to 10 MB and up to 500 pages.

Will the split PDFs keep my original formatting?

Absolutely. Each output PDF retains the exact text, images, fonts, and layout from the original pages.

Can I split a password‑protected PDF?

You must unlock the PDF first (using our Unlock PDF tool) if you have the password. Currently the split tool does not bypass encryption.

Do I need to create an account?

No account, no sign‑up, no email required. Use the tool immediately.

What happens to my file after splitting?

Nothing – because it never leaves your computer. Once you close the browser tab, all data is gone.

Can I split a PDF into multiple files with different page ranges in one go?

Yes. You can define several ranges (e.g., pages 1-3, 4-7, 8-10) and generate a separate PDF for each range.
